The Labor Market Information Division (LMID) of EDD, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, will be sending a follow-up mailing at the end of December for the November 2012 Panel Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) survey. The survey is designed to collect occupational and wage information on the nation's full-time and part-time workforce from employers. The survey reference period covers the pay period that included November 12, 2012. Semi-annual panel collection and a faster processing schedule have provided LMI customers with more timely data than in the past. Estimates from this survey panel are seasonally adjusted, and will be available in early 2013 for over 827 occupations by geographic area and industry in California, and the remainder of the nation. You can find the most current and historical California OES Employment and Wages on the Labor Market Info website at http://www.labormarketinfo.edd.ca.gov
under LMI by Subject > Wages
. Data are available from 2001 through the 1st quarter of 2012.
The initial mailing of the November 2012 survey was sent to 15,951 California employers. As always, the success of the survey will be the result of timely, and accurate reporting by employers. There are various collection methods that are available to make reporting as convenient as possible. Employers may elect to complete a survey form that is sent by mail, call LMID to report to an OES Representative using our toll free line 1-800-826-4896, fax to 916-262-1042, send an electronic file to OESCalifornia@idcf.bls.gov or key their data into an online database at https://idcfoes.bls.gov/
The survey provides valuable information to employers, job seekers, the employment and training community, and economic developers. OES data are used to develop occupational trends by industry, evaluate the presence of technology on occupations, and measure the changing employment composition of industries. The data are extremely important to the educational community, who use the information to determine the coursework needed to train the next generation of workers.
If you are one of the employers selected to participate, and you have questions, or need specific information about survey results, please call the OES toll free line at 1-800-826-4896 or fax your request to 916-262-1042.
