web-based tool was developed by the World Institute on Disability (WID) with support from the Employment Development Department (EDD) and other workforce development partners and offers free online career planning tools and information. Vets101 was built in collaboration with veterans and veterans' service organizations to better serve this population.
—The Vets101 Navigator tool is the first step in understanding complex benefits programs. After completing a short, anonymous survey the Navigator will deliver a customized Vets101 reading list, based on the veterans' responses, of the top priority programs to explore first. If a program has an online application, Vets101 will take the veteran directly to it.
Vets101 Benefits and Work Calculator
—The Vets101 Benefits and Work Calculator estimates the effects of employment on benefits and health coverage, including Veterans Affairs Compensation and Social Security Disability Insurance. Veterans and service providers are able to map out future changes to benefits based on a job offer or self-employment plan.
—Vets101 features easy to follow employment-focused articles that cover over 100 programs from the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Medicaid, Medicare, and the Social Security Administration. Veterans can learn about how programs from different agencies work together and get key facts on program basics, details, FAQs, pitfalls, and next steps. Returning Vets101 users can log in to retrieve personal recommendations, favorites, and calculator sessions.
