The Labor Market Information Division (LMID) of the Employment Development Department (EDD), in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, will be conducting a follow-up mailing of the May 2013 occupational and wage survey during the first week of July. The survey reference period requires employers to report both full- and part-time employees who worked during the pay period that included May 12th.
The survey was designed to produce occupational estimates of total wage and salary employment. Estimates from this survey panel are seasonally adjusted and will be available in early 2014 for more than 827 occupations by geographic area and industry in California and the nation.
The most current California OES employment and wages information is available at the website http://www.labormarketinfo.edd.ca.gov
by selecting LMI by Subject > Wages
. Data from the survey year 2001 to the present are available.
The initial mailing of the May 2013 survey was sent to 15,864 California employers. As always, the success of the survey will be the result of timely and accurate reporting by employers. To make reporting as convenient as possible, there are various collection methods available. Employers can mail in a survey form, call the LMID toll-free at 1-800-826-4896, fax survey data to 916-262-1042, send an electronic file to OESCalifornia@idcf.bls.gov, or submit information online at https://idcfoes.bls.gov/
The survey provides valuable information to employers, job seekers, the employment and training community, and economic developers. OES data are used to develop occupational trends by industry, evaluate the presence of technology on occupations, and measure the changing employment composition of industries. The data are extremely important to the educational community who use the information to determine the coursework needed to train the next generation of workers.
If you are one of the employers selected to participate and you have questions or need specific information about survey results, please call the OES toll-free at 1-800-826-4896 or fax your request to 916-262-2950.
