Step 1:  Choose your occupation:

Step 2:  Choose your county:

Click on the county from the pull down list or click on the map image to select your county from a map of California.  Some Select Careers reports include information for a group of counties.  Counties grouped together are identified on the map with the same color.

Tips for Using Select Careers

A. How to Navigate Through Select Careers
  • Use the links at the bottom of each page to move between the pages (i.e., Job Description, Wages & Benefits, Education & Training, etc.).
  • If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, click on the report then use the wheel to scroll between the pages.
  • To better view the report, switch your browser window to full screen.  Go to the top menu bar of the browser, click on "View" then on "Full Screen   F11" on the drop down list.  This will hide the toolbars at the top of the browser window.  To show the toolbars again, press the "Alt" key, then the "v" then the "f" keys in succession on your keyboard.  Or use the back arrow in the upper left corner to return to this page and press the "F11" key in the very top row of your keyboard.
  • If you are using Adobe Reader 6.0 or newer, you will be able to view the extra features of Select Careers.  As you move your mouse over some text, the normal "hand" icon with change to a black arrow and a small text box will appear.  This additional information is on the "Skills, Abilities & Knowledge" and the "Work Activities and Tasks" sections.
B. Printing Select Careers
  • Go to menu bar of your browser, click "File" then "Print" or click on the printer icon on the tool bar.  In the Print Box, select your printer, the pages you wish to print, and click on the "OK" button.
  • Print the whole document or selected pages.
C. Additional Resources
  • A list of additional resources is located on the last page of Select Careers.  Where available, a link to their Web site is provided for the convenience of our customers.  The EDD is not responsible for the content in these sites.
  • See the Select Careers Methodology for additional information and sources.
D. Downloading Adobe Reader
  • We recommend that you use Adobe Reader so you can use the extra features in Select Careers.  The extra features provide small explanations of the terms used in the report.
  • The free Reader is available to download at the Adobe Web site.
